Investigation

There are many reasons why private and public enterprises want to investigate actual conditions and circumstances. The background may, for example, be suspicion of fraud, embezzlement, corruption or other types of financial crime.

In other cases, the enterprise may be concerned with mapping the facts to investigate what actually happened or how an incident was handled.

Financial crime, breach of laws and regulations or the publication of other objectionable matters in the enterprise can have major and devastating consequences for an enterprise.

About the team

In an investigation, it is important that consideration is given to all involved parties and relevant regulations, as the result of an investigation can have major consequences for the business and affected individuals and other third parties.

We are one of Norway's leading expertise environments in the field of investigating public and private enterprises. We have been involved in both minor and extensive investigations in and outside Norway.

Investigative assignments we have carried out cover suspicions corruption, money laundering, embezzlement, fraud and other types of suspected financial crime, breaches of rules on public procurement and questions regarding objectionable conditions in the workplace.

In our professional environment, we also have expertise in securing and searching electronically stored information. In some investigation assignments, we collaborate with people in our national and international network.

How do we conduct an investigation?

We carry out investigations in line with good practice and the Norwegian guidelines that apply to investigations. Investigation assignments can typically consist of securing documents and securing and searching electronically stored information, accounting investigations, interviews/conversations, evidence assessment and analyses, tactical assessments and communication and reporting to the client.

The result of an investigation and the trust in the work carried out will often be related to the ones that are carrying out the assignment and the trust in that the investigators have the necessary competence and resources to carry out the task.

We are aware of our clients’ high demands for investigators regarding honesty, integrity and independence. Furthermore, as lawyers, we have a strong duty of confidentiality regarding the information that is entrusted to us - also in purely investigative assignments.
